“Smithville Possibilities” Mural

“Smithville Possibilities”

by Clover Cochran

A pictorial history of Smithville created through a community-driven process, this mural illustrates the important people, places, and events that make this town such a special place to be. Neighbors and friends from Smithville selected the images and assisted in painting this amazing tribute!

Through a series of “Imagination Picnics” and attending various community events between August 2017 and April 2018, the Smithville Public Library/Smithville Cultural District sought input from all over the community for what needed to be on this mural. Organizers collected over 200 comment cards and had numerous conversations with the community. The Smithville City Council approved the mural concept at the October, 2018 Council meeting. Over 40 volunteers devoted their time and talents to painting this “paint by numbers” mural.
